Explanation

This typewriter will type both Musa (in the yellow box) and IPA (white) at the same time. You can also edit either box by hand. You can then copy either of them as Unicode or as HTML and paste it wherever you want.

The only trick involves the vowels. To type a vowel, you have to type an accent (in light green) either before or after it. The upper row of accents will end up on top of the vowel, spelling an unstressed vowel or low tone, while the lower row of accents will end up below the vowel, spelling a stressed vowel or high tone. If you don't type an accent, the keyboard will assume you mean a low vowel with no accent. In the IPA, the stress mark and Chau tone symbols will end up beside the vowel, not the syllable.

We included some IPA central vowel letters (in olive) that we don't normally use in Musa, and we're pretending that IPA a is central. We also include all the IPA diacritics (in plum), but without Musa equivalents. We're not using IPA tie bars because they interfere with the line heights, and because they're poorly supported by fonts. The punctuation above is defective, nor are we offering the Musa intonation symbols - the IPA doesn't transcribe intonation.
